  • Anxiety/Depression in LGBTQ Community

At LGBTQ Counseling, we specialize in helping people within the LGBTQ community who are struggling with mental health needs. Whatever your sexual or romantic orientation or gender identity may be, there should be absolutely no reason for it to be causing any kind of anxiety and depression within your life. Everyone is free to lead a life they love and which they truly belong to. However, if you identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, asexual, queer, questioning or any other orientation or gender identity, you may find that societal stigmas and other people’s views are causing you a significant amount of distress. This may lead you to feel unwelcome, unwanted, or broken.

No one should ever feel ashamed, or be made to feel ashamed, regardless of life choices. We offer a judgment free and open format therapy where you can freely express yourself. We recognize that if you identify as part of the LGBTQ community, you are at an increased risk of suicidal ideation, depression, anxiety, and self-harm; this may be due to discrimination you may be experiencing, past trauma, or hereditary illnesses.

We understand that discrimination can be carried out in many ways, for example, social rejection, verbal and physical bullying, and sexual assault. All of these are devastating to the psychological wellbeing of an individual and can lead to chronic stress, depression, and diminished mental health. We offer the LGBTQ community a safe place to talk about your unique challenges and find healing. With all the support and understanding of our therapists, you can overcome these challenges confidently live your ideal life.
